Metro Bank CEO named 'Most People-Focused CEO'

Craig Donaldson, CEO of Metro Bank, has been named 'Most People-Focused CEO of the Year' at HR Magazine's HR Excellence Awards 2017.

Craig was named the winner in a category which featured 10 CEOs from organisations across both the private and public sector.

The award is based on the HR Magazine’s analysis of colleague views on their CEO and considers the leader’s ability to inspire, excite and create strong values and engage with their workforce.

Vernon Hill, founder and chairman at Metro Bank, said: “Craig lives and breathes the Metro Bank culture and I’m delighted that he’s been recognised by such a well-respected publication as HR Magazine.

“Not only does he create fans of our customers, but our colleagues too.”

Craig was also recently awarded ‘Retail Banker of the Year’ at the RBI Global Awards 2017.

Jenny Roper, editor of HR Magazine, added: “Being crowned our judges’ ‘Most People-Focused CEO of the Year’ is an incredible accolade given the tough competition in this category this year.

“Craig’s genuinely people-centred approach shone out, however.

“Through both direct contact with employees and through social media as well, Craig is clearly a highly visible, accessible leader (apart from when he’s dressed anonymously as Metro Bank’s mascot that is!).

“And the company’s highly engaged employee population and impressive business results over the last few years are clear testament to this.

“Putting people at the centre of a business is something many leaders lay claim to, but not all do.

“But those that do put in the hard work to create genuinely people-first cultures reap the rewards many times over– as Metro Bank has done."
