Chinese investor backs UK crowdfunding platform

GuanQun Investment has invested £1m into Crowdcube following an extensive review of the UK crowdfunding sector.

The Beijing-based company has invested the funds into the UK crowdfunding platform through its London arm after being impressed by Crowdcube’s dominance in the market and growth potential.

GuanQun invests in game-changing start-ups and growth stage businesses which aim to change people’s lives for the better.

Crowdcube believes that its relationship with GuanQun will also allow it to explore untapped opportunities in China.

“The investment from GuanQun has improved our cash position by £1m, helping us to continue with our growth and expansion plans,” said Crowdcube.

“This includes growing our investor network, providing unrivalled investment opportunities and delivering investor returns.”

To date, £320m has been invested through the Crowdcube platform with over £250m being successfully invested into 545 raises.

There has also been over £2.75m invested through the Crowdcube mobile app and the crowdfunder celebrated a record-breaking year during 2016.
