The 780km ride took 34 hours to complete, with the team battling through temperatures of 45 degrees Celsius, “biblical” thunderstorms and “brutal” crosswinds to complete the N2 challenge.
The team was made up of professionals from the specialist finance industry, including Wharf Financial’s managing director Marc Champ and head of commercial finance Simon King, and Michael Dean, co-founder and director at Avamore Capital.
Michael remarked on the sheer toughness of the challenge, saying it “was enough to break any man or woman”.
“Personally, it is the most physically challenged I’ve ever been, with my legs cramping up multiple times including once on a 7% ascent,” he added.

The team’s effort wasn’t in vain however, as the sum raised will go to ChildAid, a charity helping disadvantaged children in Eastern Europe.
ChildAid recently launched a specific campaign to support disabled and vulnerable children in Ukraine who have been impacted by the war being waged on the nation.
Marc extended his thanks to those who have donated already, as well as the support crew.
“We couldn’t have done it without the help of our support crew, Alan and Sally Williams, who were on hand every 20km with water, gels and other goodies.
“A big thank you also to the people of Portugal, who were unbelievably friendly and welcoming.”
The fundraiser is still active on ChildAid’s website for anyone who wishes to donate.
