Breeze Capital welcomes director of credit risk

Breeze Capital has appointed Natalie Smethurst (pictured above) as director of credit risk.

In her new role, she will be responsible for creating the lender’s bridging and development credit policy and underwriting guidelines.

She will report directly to Breeze Capital’s managing director Mark Harrison.

Natalie joins the lender from Arbuthnot Specialist Finance, where she was head of credit underwriting and portfolio management.

Before that, she worked alongside Mark at Stretton Capital.

She brings more than two decades of experience to Breeze Capital, which launched under Mark’s stewardship last month

The firm offers a range of short-term lending products, including bridging loans and ground-up development finance solutions for residential, commercial and industrial properties.

On her appointment, Natalie said: “I am delighted to take up this position with Breeze Capital at the start of what I know will be an exciting journey.

“The opportunity to define the credit function and join the board to help Breeze Capital achieve its long-term goals was just too great an opportunity to turn down.

“Simplicity, calm decision-making and a refreshing lack of red tape to get a deal over the line will really appeal to our introducers, and I am confident that we will become the lender of choice for many brokers.”

Mark added: “Natalie has a fantastic track record of managing risk and she was our number one choice to join us as co-founder of the business and to head up our credit function.

“I have worked with her before, so I am fully aware of her expertise and experience.

“As a new lender, managing risk, lending on the right projects and ensuring we are repaid fully and on time is paramount — and Natalie’s appointment allows us to achieve those aims.”
