I have extensive experience in the industry navigated through a variety of diverse roles, I have undoubtedly encountered both triumphs and hurdles, contributing to the broader narrative of women's progression in the workforce.
In my journey, I have witnessed and confronted issues that disproportionately affect women, for example, the gender pay gap, lack of representation in leadership roles, or subtle biases, these challenges do persist despite advancements.
By highlighting my experiences, I hope I have shed light on the ongoing need for collective efforts to dismantle these barriers and foster a more inclusive workplace culture for all.
When I first entered the specialist market, the industry as a whole was in a totally different place than it is today.

I was advised by my manager at the time that as this is a male dominated profession that trouser suits are a must — skirts oh and dresses if you must wear one should be below the knee – I thought my days of wearing a “uniform” were over as the suggested rules were on par with my old school uniform policy!
Looking at my experience one valuable piece of advice for someone starting in the industry today, I feel, would be to cultivate a strong support network — building relationships with mentors, both male and female, can provide guidance and insights, helping navigate the complexities of the professional landscape.
I would encourage all to seek opportunities for skill development and assertiveness, as confidence often plays a pivotal role in overcoming gender-related challenges.
Furthermore, I would emphasize the importance of allyship, encourage individuals to actively support their female colleagues, challenge gender stereotypes, and advocate for inclusivity — by fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual respect, we collectively contribute to dismantling the barriers that can hinder women's progress.
Lastly, underscore the power of continuous education, I would encourage individuals to stay informed about current gender-related issues, participate in discussions, and engage in initiatives that promote equality.
By remaining vigilant and proactive, we contribute to the ongoing dialogue and progress toward a more equitable future.
In conclusion, International Women's Day is a moment for celebration, reflection, and advocacy — I hope my experience in the industry positions me as a valuable voice in shaping the narrative surrounding women's contributions and challenges.
By sharing my insight, I can contribute to a collective effort in fostering a more inclusive and equitable professional landscape for future generations to come.
