Previously, Miguel has spent time as MD for intermediaries and CEO of insurance services at Banco Santander, and currently holds the post of MD of home buying and ownership at NatWest Group.
Commenting on the appointment, Shawbrook said in a statement: “Miguel Sard will be joining the Group later this summer in the role of Chief Banking Officer, Retail.

“This new Exco role will bring together our consumer lending, savings and specialist mortgage propositions from across Shawbrook’s existing consumer franchise and the group’s retail mortgage brands: The Mortgage Lender and Bluestone Mortgages.
“We will continue to operate and leverage the strengths of our three distinct brands, while taking advantage of the significant opportunities we have to share technology, capabilities and knowledge within the combined business.
“With Miguel leading a combined retail business here at Shawbrook, we have the opportunity to deliver the best of what a specialist bank can provide with the scale and reach of a major consumer organisation.”
