UK music sensation Robbie Williams, 39, splashed £17.5 million on the 46-room abode of the late Sir Michael Winner, a British Film director, that was originally put up for sale for £60 million.
Robbie has been struggling to get on the property ladder in London for the past year. While commenting on the matter he said: “But prices are astronomical. I don’t know how anybody can afford to live in London full stop. It’s all gone oligarch-kind-of-cash. It’s all unrealistic.”
Robbie Williams currently owns a £8 million seven bed property in Wiltshire, where he, his wife Ayda, 34 and daughter reside.
Earlier this year, Robbie sold his £2.25 million home in Beverly Hills complete with its own football pitch at a loss of around £300,000.
The Grade II listed building was originally put up for sale with an asking price of £ 60 million in 2011. After receiving no takers, the final sale was ordered by Winner’s executors.
Michael Winner who passed away in January gained possession of Woodland House from his property tycoon father in 1978. Winner is said to have accumulated large debts and is thought to have secured mortgages on behalf of former girlfriends.
Estate Agent, Andrew Langton of Aylesford International said: “The most important thing is that Woodland house has gone to a family and not a developer which is really what Sir Michael wanted. “
