The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has revealed that fraudsters are using the details of an authorised UK challenger bank.

p>Axis Bank UK Limited is authorised and regulated by the FCA, but fraudsters are using the name Axis Bank UK Plc, as part of their tactics to scam people in the UK.

The regulator has confirmed that London-based Axis Bank UK Limited has no association with the clone firm and has warned the public to be wary when cold called.

“This is what we call a 'clone firm'; and fraudsters usually use this tactic when contacting people out of the blue, so you should be especially wary if you have been cold called,” said the FCA.

“They may use the name of the genuine firm, the firm reference number we have given the authorised firm or other details.”
