A former chairman of the Financial Services Authority, Lord Turner will address the risks and potential of P2P lending at the London conference on 10th and 11th October.
Lord Turner said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to speak in more depth about alternative finance, including the fast-growing, peer-to-peer lending sector and the opportunities and risks that it may pose as it develops further.”
Over a thousand European and UK platforms, regulators and investors will attend the conference, which is the second of its kind organised by both LendIt and the P2PFA.
Christine Farnish, Chair of the Peer-to-Peer Finance Association, added: “Lord Turner is an authoritative speaker on matters relating to financial services regulation and his views on how the opportunities and benefits of peer-to-peer lending can best be encouraged – and risks mitigated – through effective regulation, will be an important contribution to the debate.”
The conference will be held at the InterContinental Hotel in London.
Though this is the second time LendIt and the P2PFA have co-hosted this event, it will be the third conference to be held in Europe.
Founded in 2011, the P2PFA is a self-regulatory body for the sector, which promotes high standards of conduct and consumer protection among P2P organisations.
LendIt was founded in New York in 2013, and claims to be the world’s largest conference series dedicated to the P2P lending community.
The firm now hosts three annual alternative finance events in Europe, the USA and China.
