Together raises £26,000 for Royal Manchester Children's Hospital

Specialist lender Together have donated £26,000 to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity after nine months of corporate fundraising.

The campaign’s aim was to fund the refurbishment of rooms in the hospital’s bone marrow transplant unit

Together began the fund in October last year with the initial goal of £13,000, the cost of refurbishing one room. However, because this pledge was exceeded, Together upped the funding to £26,000 so that two rooms could be refurbished.

Together encouraged contributions through fundraising initiatives, including a golf day, auction, colleague dress down days and a Christmas campaign. Four hundred and fifty employees at Together donated, as well as brokers and suppliers.

Leading specialist finance publications Bridging & Commercial and Loan Talk also supported the campaigns by collecting donations at the B&C Awards 2016 and LT Awards 2015, raising £8,950.

Joel Oxberry, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity, outlined the plans for the money raised. “The refurbishment, which will start in the coming months, will see the ward undergo a full makeover; with a new design theme, soft furnishings, computer games, toys and a lot of home comforts to try to make the children a little more at ease during their time here.”

Commercial CEO at Together Marc Goldberg said: “As a local business, it’s important to us that we give back to our community and this is something that will make a huge difference.

“I toured the hospital myself and saw the work that both the hospital and the charity do, and I’m so pleased that we’re able to help with this project.

“Having seen how wonderfully the charity has transformed other units, I’m looking forward to seeing how the funds will reshape the bone marrow transplant unit, where children can spend a lot of time alone as they wait for an operation that could save their life.”
