The firm has changed its name to SHW, launched a new website and opened a new office.
SHW also intends to further strengthen its commercial property management offering through a programme of targeted acquisitions.
The new website will better reflect the firm’s core values and growth ambitions, while retaining its strapline of ‘making property work’.
SHW opened its Bromley office a few months ago, which will give the firm greater access to the Kent market, as well as south-east London and the Thames Gateway.
This brings its total number of offices to eight, stretching from the south coast to London and incorporating hubs at Brighton, Croydon and Crawley.
Founded in 1798, the firm has grown through a series of mergers to become a modern, multi-disciplinary practice.
It currently offers more than 30 agency and professional services across both commercial and residential property, and is owned and managed by its partners.
Half of SHW’s £12m turnover comes from property management and building surveying.
“Having a strong commercial management business is a great advantage for the firm, giving us a solid foundation and the chance to earn fees by improving the assets that we manage,” said Martin Clark, managing partner at SHW (pictured above).
“It also opens the door to other areas, such as rent reviews, sales, rating, lease renewals, building surveying and lettings.”
The firm’s clients include the Co-op, the Hyde Group, Virgin, Bupa, Shoreham Airport, Aberdeen Standard Investments, Clearbell Capital, Orbit Southern and some of the major landed estates.
Martin added: “It’s been 20 years since our MBO [management buyout] from Alliance & Leicester, during which time we’ve grown into one of the largest surveying practices in the South East, specialising in commercial property.
“Our new brand will support our ambitions, reflecting the modern and vibrant culture we have established at SHW, yet retaining a strong connection to our historical roots.”
