With many leaders in the bridging and commercial finance markets using the lockdown period to reflect on their own businesses and how they operate so that they come out the other side of the pandemic stronger and more resilient, B&C asked Piragash whether this period of reflection was needed.
“All that the last three or four years have shown us is that the only thing we can guarantee apart from death and taxes now is also change,” he replied.
“...As an industry, I think we have to constantly take stock and we have to constantly appraise where our risk position is,” he added.
He said that, as a broker, the most important thing for him is to “consistently understand what the whole of market offers”.

“Our clients are still asking us the same questions [such as], ‘Can you fund this?’ Our answers may be more nuanced in terms of advice … it’s really important that the level of advice we give is great, not just for the moment, today, but also into the future.”
B&C caught up with Piragash to discuss what challenges the specialist brokerage has faced during these unparalleled times and how it has overcome them, what the current funding landscape looks like for commercial clients, and what one key thing he believes will contribute towards the market recovery post Covid-19.
