In the same month it took home the Best Bridging Broker accolade at this year’s B&C Awards, Envelop announced the appointment of new CCO Adrian Wickham (pictured above), who brings a broad cross-industry background to help drive the company’s next phase of growth.
Adrian has held roles focused on business development and expansion across a diverse range of sectors, from restaurants and legal aviation services to landscaping. For example, his latter vocation has taken him from projects with Premier League football clubs to a memorial in south London honouring the late Desmond Tutu. According to Adrian, his varied experience gives him a distinctive perspective on what makes a business succeed.
Currently serving as a chairman of the board at The British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) on a voluntary, not-for-profit basis, Adrian saw surprising parallels between landscaping and specialist finance.“Commercial acumen is really important [in both worlds], which you need when you're dealing with the specialist finance industry,” he said.
Over the past 20 years, Adrian has been involved in buying, refurbishing and selling properties, and it was the complexity of specialist finance that ultimately drew him to this industry. “What I really enjoy is the complex pricing tools, the complex negotiations, and bringing clients on board not just for the short term, but for the long term.

“I've got a varied amount of skills and background, which I think will certainly tie up with the ambitions of Envelop. What attracted me to Envelop is knowing that the CEO has some really fantastic growth plans. And it’s a new opportunity for me to look at where I want to be for my personal growth and my future. So, for me, it was an excellent fit.’’
As CCO, Adrian’s immediate focus will be enhancing the customer journey before identifying the “pinch points” to make the Envelop experience seamless . “We'll be looking at how we can make adjustments to some of the processes that we already have in place,’’ he shared.
Over the next three years, he aims to help Envelop become the specialist broker of choice, with an emphasis on long-term relationships and exploring new product offerings.
Adrian highlighted that supporting clients and making sure they were successful was key. “In today’s specialist market, many of our clients are business owners navigating complex financial decisions. It’s essential that the solutions we deliver strike the right balance — ensuring lenders are rewarded fairly, without compromising the client’s long-term success. Our role is to make sure the finance works for everyone involved — but especially for the client at the centre of the deal.”
With the current economic climate also one of uncertainty, Adrian believed there would be more of a focus on clients and brokers looking for the cheapest deal. “But we all know that the cheaper isn't always the best,” he explained.
“[This is when you] need a company that actually know how to deliver, knows how to perform, and can get things across the line.”
