Property Race Day smashes £1m mark

A week ago Ascot welcomed some of the finest in the property industry for a day at the races. The day which is aimed at raising funds for UK and international charities broke the £1 million mark.

The day which is aimed at raising funds for UK and international charities broke the £1 million mark in funds raised since its launch seven years ago.

Ascot’s eighth annual Property Race Day was held on the 11th of July, which saw a spectrum of faces including Close Brothers Property Finance and the three time B&C Bridging Lender Of The Year, Dragonfly Property Finance.

Dragonfly Property Finance hosted two tables at the event as part of a hospitality occasion for some of its treasured business relationships. Mark Posniak of Dragonfly said: “The Property Race Day at Ascot is always a great occasion to catch up with some of the people we do business with, and have a bit of a flutter. Our BDM Maria did particularly well and had an especially strong reason to celebrate.”

As well as a couple unlucky losses, the day held a few surprise wins, seeing outsider horse Shore Step on a 14/1 chance, storm through the ranks and win with a substantial lead.

David Erwin, Chairman of The Property Raceday, said: “We are thrilled to have gone through the £1 million mark in monies raised for a variety of deserving childrens’ charities. It is a fantastic achievement by everyone involved over the years and has become an established event in the property industry calendar.”

“We have an excellent committee who all work very hard each year to ensure all of the races are sponsored, all 850 seats are filled and that we produce a high quality set of auction lots to augment the fundraising which totalled over £300,000 on the day last year.”

The charities this year were Land Aid, Well Child, Hope and Homes, Project Hope and RNLI.

The event also held a Silent Auction showcasing prizes like hot air balloon trips, a 14 night cruise and two nights at a golf resort.

Last year the day held its charity race where 12 professionals in the property industry race over a straight mile at Ascot.

These included the likes of Sam Harper and Laura Harvey from Cushman and Wakefield and Paddy Lowther and Charlie Weatherill from Savills.
