p>Seven arrests and 13 property searches have been conducted in connection with a mass investigation.
The investigation, known as Operation Bannock, saw officers from HMRC, Cheshire Constabulary, National Crime Agency, Guernsey’s Financial Investigations Unit and the Isle of Man Constabulary Financial Crime Unit execute a number of warrants. Searches of 13 properties across Cheshire, London, Manchester, Guernsey and the Isle of Man are now being conducted
Significant amounts of cash and business records have been seized.
The alleged incident’s nature is thought to be of VAT and Money Laundering fraud.
Assistant Director of Criminal Investigation at HMRC, Diane Donnelly, said the body is committed to working with partner agencies to target those involved.
“Tax fraud is not a victimless crime and every year costs millions of pounds in lost revenue that should be funding public services,”
“No one agency can tackle this alone and we are committed to working with our partner agencies in the UK and abroad to target those who try to attack our tax system.”
