Robert has over 35 years’ experience in retail banking, with a strong focus on mortgage lending and has recently returned from the Middle East where he was a non-executive at banks in the UAE, Oman and Turkey.
Whilst CEO at West Bromwich Building Society he implemented a rescue plan and prior to this he was also CEO at Portman Building Society and Bank of Ireland.
Glyn Jones, Chairman of Aldermore, said Robert had an impressive career in financial services which could only help the bank grow as a listed company.
“I am delighted that he has chosen to join the Bank as a non-executive director and I am very much looking forward to working with Robert," said Glyn.
"This is an exciting time for Robert to be joining Aldermore, coming so soon after our listing on the London Stock Exchange.
“Robert's expertise will be invaluable as we continue to grow the Bank's lending and deposit businesses and increasing the support we are providing to Britain's SMEs, homeowners and savers."
