div>An advert on the Facebook page of a claims management company has been banned by the Advertising Standards Authority for being misleading.
Packagedbankaccounts.net posted an advert on a Facebook page claiming that customers who pay for their bank account could get every penny back they have paid.
The advert also stated that average refunds total £1,900.
Lloyds Banking Group picked up on the advert and questioned whether there was any evidence to back up the average refund figure.
This led to an ASA investigation.
The ASA said in a statement: “We had not been provided with evidence to show that the average refund obtained by packagedbankaccounts.net customers was £1,900 and considered therefore that the claim had not been substantiated.”
“For those reasons, we concluded that the ad was misleading.”
As Packagedbankaccounts.net failed to respond to the enquiry, it was ordered to take the advert down.
“The ad must not appear again in its current form,” the ASA concluded.
The matter was also referred to the CAP Compliance team.
