Representatives from Masthaven, Funding 365, Octopus Property and Ortus Secured Finance were joined by a team member from both Medianett and hosts Adapt Finance as the four teams competed in a series of challenges with a £250 car.
The teams had to complete tasks including exiting and re-entering a car without touching the ground, a blind-fold navigation challenge and handbrake turns.
In total, more than £6,700 was raised on the day through online donations and the auctioning of the four cars for three charities: Steps, Bury Hospice and Refuaid.
The winners of the FlopGear Challenge were Funding 365’s ‘The Fast & the Mildly Irritated’, who took the crown despite a breakdown on the M6 within the first few minutes of the challenge – leading to a replacement vehicle being brought in.
Octopus Property’s Roctopus took the wooden spoon, while Masthaven’s ‘Three Men and a Little Lady’ finished third and Ortus’ ‘Jack & the Absent Beenstock’ claimed the runners-up spot.

Points were awarded by the referees, who were led by Adapt’s Jordan McBriar along with Danielle Beswick, Graham Ball and Ian McElroy.

The day culminated in a drive to Manchester where the tired teams were rewarded with a dinner and the winners were announced.
“For me, it was a great success which could have gone horribly wrong,” said Jordan.
“We lost a car within the first hour and somehow managed to get a replacement one ready for them to arrive at the next location.”
A strong social media presence was kept up throughout the day using #FlopGearChallenge to encourage further donations.

Despite the broken down cars, the bumps and bruises sustained by both vehicles and participants, everyone enjoyed the day’s events.
“The teams may not have wanted to join in some of the challenges, but every single person did – stupendously – and all to raise money for three great charities,” Jordan added.
“We are all still laughing about the day’s events and hope to launch the sequel later this year with more defying challenges, more teams and, most importantly, more money raised for the charities.”
